In 1986 he won first place in the “Alessandro Longo “ competition for young concertizers and in the same year he placed in the “ Mauro Giuliani “ International Guitar Competition.
He has studied at the Mozarteum of Salzburg under the guidance of master Pepe Romero.
The guest of numerous Itailan concert associations, he has harvested enthusiastic approval from critic and public alike through intense concertizing, which has taken him to Spain, France, Germany, and Austria.
In 1995 he was invited to perform as a soloist at the University of California at San Diego.
Mr, Scandurra’s experience also includes film music, having played for Italian movies on the famous R.A.I. and C.A.M networks. He has contributed his art to UNICEF in the form of concerts.
He has treated a Berben edition of the book Note Sulla Chitarra ( Notes of the Guitar) by Robert Vidal, with the forward by Andres Segovia, as well as having transcribed various pieces for guitar. Among his transcriptions are a Gavotte and Minuet by Ludovico Roncalli.
In February ‘99 article in “ La Sicilia” by journalist Elvira Ursino entitled “ Antonio Scandurra, A Praise to the Guitar”. It states: “ The sensitie soloist has demonstrated an impeccable style and has made evident the harmonic beauty of his instrument.”
